It's the last weekend before Halloween! I've been enjoying seeing all the decorations around my neighborhood. I am amused by the skeleton bones "climbing" out of the lawns, and all the "cobwebs" and blow-up lawn decorations. Do your neighbors decorate?
Thanks to Sew Incredibly Crazy and Marian at Seems To Be Sew for coordinating this fun hop. There are great prizes and lots of inspiration. Enter, if you dare (insert squeaking door sound, lol)
I also had a challenge as an Island Batik Ambassador.
We were asked to create something with a pumpkin. Between the Ambassador posts and the other Eerie Night posts, it's been so inspiring to see what everyone has been creating! Search the hashtag #IslandBatikPumpkinFest for more from the Ambassadors.
I picked 4 orange batik fabrics, and put it with solid black. I used a gorgeous green Island batik for the leaf and stem, and added a border from Fabri-quilt that is for sale in my etsy shop. The pattern is Pumpkin Grins by Quilt In a Day.. And I created a smirky grinning face after looking at some suggestions on Pinterest.
I like mixing batiks and regular cottons. I've done it before, and it's fun, and it looks great.
Some of the "big" name designers do it, and the oranges from the batiks are a great match to the pumpkins in the print.
I used Aurifil clear nylon thread to quilt spider webs to the pumpkin. And I added LED lights. There's a small pocket on the back that holds a flat battery pack, and has a switch. I've done quite a few lighted pumpkin grins, and they are always so much fun to create.
I put a hanging sleeve on the back, so it can either be on a wall, or you could add magnets to hold it to a steel door. If you look at the close-up you can see the tiny light bulbs. I had a friend who put Fibre-Optics in some of my quilts, and made these small LED light sets for me.
So, I hope I've given you some ideas, and that you've enjoyed the hop. Please remember to enter the give-away below for the Quilters Dream batting! Just tell me your favorite Fall activity.
And check the others posting today to check out the other give-aways. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wow! I was impressed with the smirking Jack o' Lantern just as it was on the wall hanging, but when I got to see it lit up with lights....that was just over the top cool! I'm wondering how you got the lights to attach to the quilt. Are they hung from behind with small holes to poke through? Brilliant however you did it!
Mr. Pumpkin is too cute. Love how you added Fiber Optics to the face to make him glow.
What a fun pumpkin! Visiting pumpkin patches and apple orchards is one of my favorite fall activities.
The lighting in the pumpkin quilt gives it a true Halloween look.
Your pumpkin wall hanging is so cute! I love how the design pops with your use of bright batiks against a black background, and making his face light up was a great idea! Your spiderweb quilting is beautiful.
Awesome pumpkin, the lead lights make him perfectly spooky!
Super cute wall hanging!!! Love the light too!!
Wish I had more time to make some fall wall hangings. Yours is adorable
I do like that smirky grin-just fantastic! The cooler weather has arrived and time to work in the yard. I love the crinkle of the crispy leaves under my feet as I check my plants around the house and garden. Wonderful!

I have a Christmas tree wall hanging with lights, but never thought to do this for Halloween--clever!
My favorite Fall activity is baking. I just love pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll. Thank you, peterstankovich@comcast.net
Love the light effects! I too wonder as to the how to attach the actual lights ... Thanks!
Wow! I like the combo of batiks and solids. It makes the pumpkin pop. Even more so with the lights. Good work!
That pumpkin is amazing and adding the lights gives it a creepy, but adorable, look. Thanks for sharing!
Love your pumpkin grins quilt. I have a question about adding the lights. Do you use grommets or something to keep the fabric from fraying where the lights come through? Or Fray Check? or an eyelet stitch on your machine? My favourite fall activity is a yearly 3 day driving tour put on by a friend. It is great fun with great people.
Love that smirk on your pumpkin, I want his toothpaste-his smile lights up, so clever!

Cute . . . I wouldn't have thought of using log cabins to create a pumpkin ... but it works beautifully! My favorite fall activity??? Well, I really miss the summer activities, but I guess I still enjoy my walks. The crisp air is invigorating. (lynnstck[at]yahoo.com)

Such a happy guy and those fabrics...to die for! Love those lights that bring it all to life!
That is such a cute pumpkin... and I love the lights! My favorite fall activity is a neighborhood party for Halloween. Our kids are grown and gone, so it's so fun to see all the little kids in their costumes. It's a very fun event and a great chance to mingle and get to know the neighbors. We're crossing our fingers we don't get rained out this year!!
What a cute pumpkin and the lights add so much! Thanks for sharing!

Great pumpkin, love the mix of oranges and the lights are so fun.
oh, I love your jack-o-lantern quilt and awesome making it light up. nice.
It's a nice touch to have a light up, and would look good in a dark hall as your Treat or Treat-ers come in for candy. I think the adults would actually enjoy it just as much.
Love this pumpkin. I need to start collecting more orange.
I love your lighted pumpkin! (And he won't get smashed on the sidewalk).
I love going for walks and seeing the coloured leaves.
I love to go for a drive and see all the colorful leaves.
Very Cool! Love the lights!
Besides enjoying the foliage, I love to quilt!

This is just entirely too cute! The LED lights send it over the top. How incredibly FUN! (Ironically, my favorite fall activity is making and freezing pumpkin puree from the pumpkins in my garden.)
My favorite autumn activity is taking pictures of the changing colors here in the Pacific Northwest. By the way, your LED-lit pumpkin is so clever!
Mr. Pumpkin is just too cute.
I forgot to mention I love picking apples.
Cute quilt, but with the lights it is amazing!
During the summer it is so hot, my brain is just a blob. I love the fall when the weather is cooler and creativity kicks in.

I love taking hikes in the fall! Love your log cabin jack...he's adorable!
Great pumpkin. I mix batiks with regular cotton fabric all the time. I like leaf peeping and eating fresh crispy apples, and having more time to quilt once the gardens are put to bed.

Well, how about that. The quilt looked fun as a wall hanging, but the lights take it to a whole new level! I love mixing all kinds of fabric in quilts, and the fabric police haven't gotten to me yet. :)
In the fall, I love just taking a walk with my dogs in the cool air!
Maryellen, the lights are fabulous, but I really love the jack-0-lanterns face. It's really a cute project!
